Better Breed Cameroon is a youth-led, youth development focused association founded in January 2013 by Monique Kwachou a University of Buea graduate with the Orange Cameroon cash prize she was awarded upon graduation for Academic excellence despite Disability. Better Breed Cameroon is a non-profit and apolitical association whose motto is “Breeding the change we need”. Its members work towards and advocate for more and better investment in Cameroon’s young people with the aim of ensuring today’s youth become better citizens and leaders for tomorrow’s Cameroon.
The association which is officially registered with the office of the Senior Divisional Officer of Fako Division as No.072/G.37/D14/Vol II/SAAJP, operates from its seat in Buea. The association is made up solely of young Cameroonians who regularly contribute fractions of their income, time and ideas considering all this their “tithe to society”. Its members believe in the adage which goes “it is easier to rear a whole child that to fix a broken adult” and thus regard youth development and empowerment as the surest route to sustainable national development.
The association purports that rather than criticizing leaders of today, we would best ensure future development by focusing on raising a more conscious, civic-minded, better capable, and skilled Cameroonian youth population set to lead and serve in future. This is what Better Breed Cameroon aims for in all its activities. To date, over a thousand young people have benefitted from a variety of Better Breed Cameroon’s projects ranging from mentoring projects, reading clubs, career counseling programs, web empowerment workshops, youth essay competitions, annual bursaries covering tuition for needy youth and more.
The association prides itself in being self-funded by its members and aspires to illustrate Cameroonian youth philanthropy.Better Breed Cameroon can be contacted at email@example.com, on Facebook as Better Breed Cameroon and on Twitter as @BetterBreedCMR.
